This Day Is The Best Day Of My Life

Today is the best day of my life. I am truly exhilarated and excited with the thoughts and expectations I have of this day. My fingers can hardly keep up with the thoughts that circulate in my head as I try to communicate my feelings through my computer keyboard. I can barely sit still.

I am ecstatic as I radiate with a smile of joy. What am I so excited about?   It is a special day.  There are so many things happening in my life right now that I do not believe they are mere coincidence. I honestly believe they are of great significance. It is almost as if nature celebrates my life with me, and only me. I can hardly contain myself as I try to communicate.

Where do I begin? I really do not know where to start. You see, many people woke up today and viewed it as just another day. I did not. I went to bed last night in the midst of another snowstorm. The weathermen predicted fifteen to twenty inches of snow in my area. Like all the other people in my area, I rushed to the supermarket to stock up on sufficient provisions for my family. Today, my area has already had about ten inches of snow or more. It is completely white outside, the roads cannot even be seen and it is still swowing.

What Is special about today? For starters, it is the day before my birthday. I am neither asking for nor expecting any birthday greetings, cards or presents. There will be no birthday party. So what am I so excited about?

I am excited about everything that this day has to offer. I have lived to see the dawn of another year and the eve of my birthday. I am excited about the fact that I can pause today and reflect on my life. I can go nowhere so I am forced to think about the blessings I have had up to this day and to be truly thankful. Yes, I had many plans for today. I cannot do any of them because of the snow.

Some people may be complaining about the snowstorm, or some other matter they have to face. I choose to be thankful for the great things the snow has to offer, such as the ability to reflect on my life and the blessings I have had. I have decided to celebrate here in solitude at my computer. Can life get any better than this?

Every day brings fresh opportunities for us to do something new and different. We have a great chance of meeting new people and reconnecting with people we already know. We are alive and we can breathe on our own. We do not need to receive oxygen from a tank. We are not on life support. Our names are not in the obituary. We have been spared one more day to do what we did not do yesterday. We cannot stay in the past, and we are not quite sure about the future.

I have made a decision beginning today, to treasure the good things each day has to offer. I think we will actually enjoy everyday even more when we look for the good things we receive on a daily basis. There are so many things that we take for granted.

This is indeed a day that is given as a gift from God for us to enjoy. We are expected to do good, not evil today. We must love and not hate. We should give and not merely take. At the end of each day we sometimes complain about things that happened or did not happen. We are always looking forward to the next day with great anticipation hoping for a better day.

Why not enjoy today? Why not celebrate each day as the best day of our lives. The reality is that it is in fact the best day of our lives. Each day is our best day. It always offers something new, so it will always be the best day of our lives. It is a gift, an opportunity and a privilege to see a new day. It is the chance to say or do something that we may not be able to say or do again. We can make history. We may not become popular. We may not even be featured in a history book. Yet we are significant in our own way to make this day what it is.

Each day has a unique quality that makes it different and better than others. We need to find out what that thing is and we can make things happen. We can be thankful for the opportunity to see another day. We can appreciate all the people in our lives, such as our family members, co-workers or business partners, our neighbors and our friends. Sometimes we do not tell them how much joy they have brought us. We can be thankful for our gifts and the ability to express ourselves through these gifts. We can even be thankful for the material things we do possess. We have shelter, food, clothing, money and the ability to purchase things we need or want.

Let us use this day to reflect and to be thankful to God for all the great people He has put in our lives and all the great things He has done for us. The truth is we cannot count all our blessings. It is impossible. We tend to remember and appreciate our blessings only when we have lost them. At that time we do not have the ability to enjoy them anymore. They are only memories. Let us enjoy them now while we have them and we still have time to appreciate them. We really have no reason to be depressed when we think of our blessings.

Let us use each day to forgive those who have hurt us physically, emotionally or in any way conceivable. Let us forgive ourselves for the wrong decisions and mistakes we have made. Let us make a decision to love everyone even when they do not measure up to our expectations. Let us tolerate them, but go even further by accepting them for who they are. Let us reunite with those we chose to not communicate with us anymore. Life is much shorter than we even imagine. We can begin to have the best day ever by starting to make what has been wrong right.

As I mentioned in the beginning, this is the best day of my life. I do not know what tomorrow brings. I do not even know if I will live to see tomorrow. I choose to enjoy today and all the things this day has to offer. I have no guarantee that I will see tomorrow and in fact no one has any such guarantee. I will never see this day, or another day like today again. Each day is as different as each snowflake, each fingerprint and each iris.  I will enjoy it, because I have the ability to enjoy all the good things that it has to offer.
