My Desire Is To Worship God

As we approach a New Year, since today is New Year's Eve, I discovered that I did not make a New Year's Resolution. In fact, I am glad I did not. I wanted to start this New Year a little different from the others. I wanted to eliminate the pressure and the frustrations I usually encountered at the start of a new year. I am referring to the impulse to get things right this time, only to fail again.  Perhaps, this time I will be able to enjoy the beauty of the first few days, weeks and months to come, without feeling like a failure again.

You see, there is no need for me to have a resolution concerning earning more money or managing money better. When I die, I cannot take the money with me, but I will be with God forever and ever. My relationship with Him is far more important than money therefore. I could resolve to have better control of my time, but God controls my time. If I desire to spend that time in total devotion to Him, He will redeem the time concerning my personal issues.

My decision is so important to me, because I believe this time my desire for 2010 will materialize, simply because I have made a decision to put God first everyday that I am alive from this day on. Yes, God is extremely important to me everyday.   However, I am sorry to say that I have not dedicated each day to Him totally as I should up till now. The pressures of life sometimes take priority, but I will make a decision now, to not allow that to happen anymore.

As of today, Thursday, 31st December, 2009, my Lord will be put first in everything. I plan to reap the reward of seeking God and His righteousness first, everyday of my life. As God has promised, all things (that I need) will be added to me.

In essence, my desire is to worship God, and to spend much time in prayer and devotion to Him, and Him only. I choose to begin today.

Why should I not worship God? He is my Creator and the Creator of the whole universe. He is my very breath. It is through Him that I live and move and have my being. My very existence depends on Him. When He takes away my breath or my heartbeat I cease to exist. Who else, or what else, could deserve my total devotion? If I get sick, the doctors may, or may not be able to help. God is the only one who can cure me. He truly deserves my praise.

Like David, He floods my mind with thoughts of Himself. In the morning, I lay on my bed and I meditate on Him. My heart rejoices in Him. My thoughts are focused on Him and His goodness towards me and all mankind.

He is worthy of all praise. He is so pure. He is full of love. His compassion can never by understood, or even measured. His light penetrates even the thick darkness. No one, and nothing, can hide in His presence.

He speaks and it is done. The whole universe obeys the sound of His voice. Evil trembles and hides at the sound of His breath.

He blesses me without measure. He knows everything about me, and He loves me for who I am, even with my faults. He knows the number of the hair on my head, and He knows all my thoughts (good and bad).

My soul yearns after Him. I long to see His face. I long to rest before Him and fall prostrate at His feet. I love how how he communicates with me. His voice is beyond my comprehension. I could write about Him forever. I will, however, sing of praises and worship Him. I will rejoice in His presence and thank Him for his many acts. I will pray until I cannot find the words. I will sing until my breath is dry. I will adore Him at all times. Even as David proclaimed: I will bless the Lord at all times His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord. The humble shall hear thereof and be glad.

Is there anyone who will declare this coming year as one of worship? Can anyone else decide to devote this year to the Lord and join with me in total worship?

Prayer draws us to God. His word states:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

America needs to be healed. We all need to be healed from our individual diseases. Prayer gives God permission to exercise in His authority to bring about change in every situation, especially those that we have absolutely no control over.

I will seek God, but I will also remind Him of His Word and His promises. He keeps ALL His promises, so I do not have to live without His provisions and His love. He said if I ask according to His will, He will answer my prayers. I can study His Word, and I can apply His Word to my life, so that He can work through me.

Prayer is a sweet communion between two friends. His telephone line is never busy. He has no voice mail, so I need not leave a message. We can speak to each other as best friends.

I am thankful, because of His unlimited love for me. Gratitude is my emotional way of saying Lord, if it were not for You, what would I do? Life would have no meaning whatsoever. If I did not know you, and all the great things You have done, and continue to do as a result of your unconditional love where would i be today? When I think about all the problems I experienced even this year alone, and how you were there with me. How you comforted me and strengthened me.

Yes, we lost many people this year. There were other kinds of losses, financial and others, nationally and internationally. However, You are in control. There is nothing impossible or difficult for You to accomplish. You have proven this time and time again. I thank You for your many provisions and for your protection.

Recently, when a driver from Texas collided into my mini-van while I was transporting children from school, you spared my life and the lives of all the victims of the crash. We all came out without a scratch, even though my vehicle is declared a total loss. Yes, the driver has admitted to be at fault. I may have lost my mini-van, but I have more trust in You now, more than ever. I know you have declared the end before the beginning.

When i lost dear friends, and a family member, you were there. I was reminded of the grief accompanying death and separation, but you were there as my Comforter. You are such a dear friend. You stick closer than a brother. You met every single one of my needs. You provided for and protected my family and so many others. You are indeed Jehovah-Jireh. With a sincere heart of thanks I say, thank you so very much Lord.

Thank you Lord God.

Singing to God with sincerity brings us much closer to Him. How many times have we been depressed or burdened by some care? Then we sing unto Him. We soon discover that the negative emotions will disappear and we are surrounded by the sweet fragrance of His presence. We know that in His presence there is fullness of joy.

Praising God is also a weapon. Our enemies have to flee when we worship, pray and sing unto Him. I will praise Him with my understanding, but I will also praise Him and pray to Him in an unknown tongue. He has been so merciful and gracious to me. Where would I be if it were not for Him and his goodness towards me.

So yes, I will sing praises unto Him in the morning, at noon and at bedtime. I will praise Him in between those times. My soul will rejioce in Him always. He will overtake my total being with His Holy Spirit. He will consume my thoughts and desires with Himself. O that men would praise Him, and experience the joy of salvation.

On 29th November, 2009 I was watching Joel Osteen on television. He reminded me that God has given me a gift everyday..the present...86,400 seconds each day, which He has given me to use however I choose. At the end of the day, I cannot get those seconds back. I need to use them as best I can to His glory.

You see, God's presents, the gifts of life and time, the 86,400 seconds, 1,440 minutes, 24 hours, 52 weeks and 365 days are ahead of me, and on loan to me. I must be a good steward. If I am, He will reward me accordingly.

If I am not a good steward, I will live with regrets and be overwhelmed with frustrations. If I choose to live to please myself only, for my own selfish reasons, I would have lived in vain. I may even be depressed and God would not be pleased. I must please Him, by my faith in Him, and what He has in store for me. I choose to give Him back these gifts, in a spirit of thanksgiving and thankfulness. I pray He will give me wisdom to use these gifts wisely. It is really all about Him.

I dedicate today, tomorrow, next year and the rest of my life totally to My God and My King. The only One who deserves my devotion. The only One who is worthy of all my praise and adoration. He is truly worthy. I will bask in His anointing as He fills me with His glorious presence everyday. What an awesome way to start the New Year. It is even more inspiring to allow Him to fill me daily with a fresh anointing each time. Amen and Amen, so let it be.
